So, it's been a busy Saturday. I went to a YCL meeting, I went to the Legacy Center(yeah, that's right), and I played some Guitar Hero. I'm also in the middle of writer's block again, and I'm developing a migraine. Just thought you all should know. Happy Saturday.

ACT

Are you a scared as I am? A couple days ago, I registered to take the ACT. The ACT people!!! I'm trying to get myself prepped for the test, but I'm not worried about preparation as much, I'm worried about freezing up and forgetting everything just like I did on my last two significant tests. Check out some of the stuff I have to know. Go ahead and see if you can answer it. (No peeking at the answers!)

1. Rex is four times as old as Ted. If the sum of their ages is 30, how old is Ted? A: 5 B: 8 C: 10 D: 6
2. Find the slope: 4x - 5y = 20 A: 5/4 B: 4/5 C: -4/5 D: -5/4
3. Read the passages and answer the questions that follow(3 and 4). The work performed by a spring is one of the classic examples of work performed by variable force. When a spring is neither compressed nor extended, we may say that it is in a relaxed state. Any time the spring is taken out of this state, whether by begin stretched or compressed, it will exert what is called a restoring force, as it attempts to reclaim its relaxed state. In most cases, we can say that the force (F) exerted by the spring is proportional to the displacement of the free end from its position during the relaxed state. This is known as Hooke's law, and is expressed:
   F = -kd
   The negative sign in this equation indicates that the force is always opposite to the displacement. The constant k is known as the spring constant, and is a measure of the resilience of the spring. What is one of the classic examples of work performed by variable force? A: a ball rolling downhill B: stretching out a spring C: compressing a spring D: the work performed by a spring
4. Why is the spring constant always negative? A: Because it always acts in the opposite direction as the force acting on the spring B: Because it always acts in the same direction as the force acting on the spring. C: Because it always acts perpendicular to the force acting on the spring. D: Because it goes toward the center of the earth.

Here are the answers:

1. D. The ratio of Rex's age to Ted's age is 4:1; the sum of their ages can be divided by the total number of units in this ratio, 5. This indicates that Rex is 24 and Ted is 6.
2. B. The equation form for slope is y = mx + b, in which m is slope.
3. D. The restoring force of a spring is a great example of variable force.
4. A. The restoring force always resists the force that moves the spring out of its relaxed position.

See, not too bad. I'm just worried about the stupid science questions. I hate science. My attention span is not equipped to deal with any science. I also have to do some more English questions and I am taking the optional essay part of the test so, I'm also nervous about that. But I still have a month to prepare, and I think if I do a couple of prep practices every night, I'll get a good score.

Another Year

I’m so sick of feeling sorry for myself. I’m tired of not having any confidence. Why do I beat myself up about the smallest things? I am an amazing, independent, strong, beautiful, talented, creative, smart, unique, passionate, and extraordinary individual. I’m so blessed, and I neglect to see it almost 24/7. It’s time to stop my insecure ways. Here and now, I’m making a pledge. I’m going to start taking care of myself, because I’m worth the hard work. I’m going to have the conviction to do things I would otherwise be scared to do. I’m going to take some chances, learn to live a little. I’ve been so protected in my shell. It’s time to make some changes. I’m a powerful woman. I can do whatever I set my mind to. I’m going to stop caring what others think, because as far as I’m concerned, only two opinions matter right now: God’s and mine. Next year is my senior year, and I’m not going to sit by and watch other people have all the fun. Nope, not going to happen. This leads me into my next topic; New Year’s Resolutions.

1. Lose weight – yeah, I know, on everyone’s list, but I’m serious about it.
   a. Go to the Legacy Center at least three times a week.
   b. Hire Hannah as a Personal Trainer.
   

2. Apply to three colleges before the end of next year.



3. Take the ACT and get a 30 or above (out of 36).



4. Go on lots of dates (may or may not require a boyfriend).



5. Go to my first real concert – no Kim, the Backstreet Boys concert didn’t count.



6. Acquire many scholarships (I guess I need to work on apply for them as well).



7. Make Editor-in-Chief on my school newspaper.



8. Publish something I’ve written.



9. Continue developing talents such as photography and music.



10. Be more positive – Smiley faces are still my icon.



11. Don’t worry so much – relax, things will work out.



12. Own a car before my next birthday – everything paid off.



13. Get everything SUPER organized so I don’t have to worry about losing or forgetting anything.



14. Say, “I love you,” more to friends and family – they know it, but need to hear it more often.



15. Stick with all of these goals until Thanksgiving at the very least.

Wow, it’s amazing what you can sometimes end up writing off a whim. Happy New Year! :]

The Finale

Well, Christmas is almost finally upon us. Bronson is still itching to open all of the presents under the tree. He gets to open one later, but I'm worried he'll get a taste of it and won't want to stop. I'll admit that I'm excited, too. Our family has been tracking Santa through www.noradsanta.org. It's been a tradition for a couple of years now.

'Twas ALMOST The Night Before Christmas

I've got extreme writer's block today. Sorry, I would write more. I can tell you my plans for Christmas, however.

Ok, so Christmas morning we usually wake up at 7:00, and I get dragged out of bed by my siblings. We open presents from Santa, then the presents under the tree. Next we get to play with our toys for a few hours, then we go to my grandparents house. We usually stay until 7:00 or 8:00 and then we get to go home, play with more toys, and get to clean up our lovely, messy house.

Wow, I'm so out of it. I feel like I'm lost somehow. Hmmm... Interesting. I'm going to watch some movies with the family.
